Features
A shared team inbox lets several people answer the same WhatsApp Business number without passing a phone around. ConneXus goes one step further: WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, SMS and email arrive in the same thread list, against the same customer record, so nobody has to remember which app a conversation started in.
The inbox is built on a single conversation record per customer per channel, so unread counts are a real column that resets when you reply — not a number recalculated on the fly that drifts out of sync.
The WhatsApp Business app caps you at a handful of linked devices and gives you no record of who said what. Once you are on the WhatsApp Business API, the number stops being tied to a handset: your team signs in to the web app, the history lives in your database, and a staff member leaving does not take the conversation with them.
Assigning a specific conversation to a specific agent, and private internal notes on a thread, are supported by the underlying data model but are not yet exposed in the inbox screen. Today you assign ownership at the lead level. We would rather tell you that than let you find out in a trial.
| Business app | ConneXus inbox on the API |
|---|---|
| Limited linked devices | Unlimited team members signing in to the web app |
| History lives on one phone | History lives in your database, tied to the contact |
| One channel | WhatsApp + Instagram + SMS + email in one list |
| No saved replies across the team | Shared saved replies |
| No CRM | Every thread is attached to a CRM contact with tags and lead score |
| No automation | Keyword rules, flows and campaigns on the same number |
On the WhatsApp Business API there is no device limit the way there is in the WhatsApp Business app — your team signs in to the web app instead of linking handsets. How many seats you get is a function of your ConneXus plan, not of WhatsApp.
You can migrate a number that is currently on the WhatsApp Business app to the API, but the migration is one-way: once a number is on the API it can no longer be used in the consumer app. Many businesses prefer to start the API on a fresh number and keep the old one running during changeover.
Yes. Instagram DMs, comment-to-DM handovers, SMS and email all render in the same thread list as WhatsApp, filtered by channel.
Connect your number through Meta Embedded Signup, keep ownership of your WhatsApp Business Account, and pay Meta directly for messages — we never add a markup.
