Guides
The green tick marks a WhatsApp Official Business Account. It is not a paid upgrade and it is not available on the free WhatsApp Business app — you must be on the WhatsApp Business API, and Meta grants it at its discretion based largely on whether your brand is notable enough to be recognised outside its own marketing. Most first applications are declined, and being declined does not affect your ability to use WhatsApp normally.
Meta weighs how well-known the brand is — press coverage in credible independent publications matters more than anything you control directly. Completed business verification, a compliant display name, a filled-out business profile and a healthy quality rating are all prerequisites, but they are not sufficient on their own.
None of these guarantee approval; missing any of them guarantees rejection.
The tick is a trust signal that appears next to your name in chat lists. It does not raise your messaging limits, change your pricing, or affect deliverability. Businesses without it operate on WhatsApp perfectly well every day.

| Biggest factor? | Brand notability — independent press coverage |
No. It is granted at Meta's discretion and cannot be bought. Any provider offering a guaranteed green tick for a fee is misrepresenting how it works.
Most often because the brand is not yet considered notable enough — Meta weighs coverage in credible independent publications heavily. You can reapply after a waiting period.
No. It is a trust badge only. It does not affect limits, pricing or deliverability.
